Location QR codes open the user's default maps app to the encoded place — an address, a venue name, or raw coordinates. Wedding invites, conference programs, retail-store directories, and emergency information all benefit from one scan getting the user to the right pin.

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter the location

Type a full address ('123 Main St, Austin, TX'), a venue name ('Empire State Building'), or coordinates ('40.7484,-73.9857'). Coordinates are most reliable.

  2. 2

    Style the QR

Brand color, logo, 'See on map' frame label. Capy QR keeps the QR scannable.

  3. 3

Download in the format you need

Export as PNG, JPEG, SVG, or PDF at up to 3,200 pixels. No signup, no watermark, no limit on downloads.

Frequently asked questions

Will it open Google Maps or Apple Maps?

Whichever is set as default on the user's phone. iPhones default to Apple Maps; Android defaults to Google Maps. Both apps recognize the same QR format.

What's most reliable: address, place name, or coordinates?

Coordinates. Address text can be ambiguous; venue names depend on the maps service indexing them. For mission-critical pins (event venues, emergency assembly points), use lat/long.

Can it open driving directions automatically?

Most apps open the location in 'Lookup' mode rather than 'Directions'. The user taps Directions themselves. Some Google-Maps-formatted URLs can pre-open directions; behavior varies by phone.

Will it work offline?

The QR will scan offline, but the maps app needs internet to render the map. Pre-cached map tiles in some apps allow limited offline lookup.
